Heat shields are specifically designed to reflect long wavelengths of infrared radiation, while allowing a high degree of transparency to exist. Ordinary plate glass would reflect only 5% and transmit 48%. However, through the use of specific types of glass and framing, a properly designed window system protects against infrared with complete visibility, providing efficiency, operator comfort, durability, sound reduction and reduced heat transfer.
