PYREX® 7740 ANNULAR EDGE
Annular Edge glasses are molded, but the raised rims have been ground flat to give 1/2" wide gasket surfaces needed for pressure service. Custom sight glasses for pressure applications can be fabricated from PYREX® Code 7740 ground and polished plate glass. There is an added feature of all PYREX® Code 7740 Annular Edge glasses. A label on the face of each piece shows the type, nominal dimensions, temperature limit, and pressure rating. This identification eliminates confusion when replacement is needed.

Key Notes:
- Rating based on minimum thickness of 5/8".
- Low pressure applications using soft gaskets should be torque to half the table values.
- Maximum bolt torque is usually not necessary-only tighten bolts or nuts are enough to seal against the process pressure.
- Bolt circle diameter should equal 1 1/2 to 2 times the diameter of the bolt, plus the diameter of the glass.
- A Flange outside diameter, 2" greater than the bolt circle diameter, provides added resistance to bending measured at the recess.
- This is the minimum flange thickness required to properly support the sight glass, up to the maximum pressure rating of the glass or 100psi (which is lower). An assembly rating above 100psi, an appropriate flange thickness must be designed.
